Bass drums are generally manufactured from one piece of tree trunk, normally mango or cedar, which can be hollowed out by both lathe or hand. More mature, bigger drums ended up made from the dense but gentle pounds cottonwood tree which is rarely located now. Some bass drum shells are created of
